If your documents must be submitted in a legally valid form, an uncertified translation is often insufficient. We provide certified translations, notarised where necessary and bearing an apostille, recognised by government agencies and courts in Switzerland and abroad.
A certified translation is more than a transfer from one language to another. The certification is a binding confirmation that the translated text is a full, true and faithful reflection of the original. At Hieronymus, such confirmation is provided by qualified translators admitted to the bar or by Hieronymus AG, and certified with the company stamp and signature. By prior arrangement, the certification can also be notarised and furnished with an apostille for international use.

Our translations are done by qualified specialised translators as well as translators admitted to the bar (Senior Lawyer-Linguists). This ensures that legal concepts, terminology and differences between legal systems will be properly understood and conveyed precisely in the target language, regardless of the area of law or language combination.
Legal texts require terminological consistency within documents and across sets of documents. We work with project-specific termbases and translation memories to ensure uniformity, recognisability and legal clarity – especially with extensive and/or repetitive texts.
Legal documents often contain highly sensitive information. We therefore treat all documents as strictly confidential, store data exclusively on secure servers in Switzerland, and do not use machine translation unless expressly requested to do and only under clearly defined conditions.
Legal translations are often subject to time pressure and firm deadlines. Our structured workflows enable reliable planning, transparent communication and timely delivery – without neglecting quality, proofreading, or legal precision.
A certified translation is provided with a certification confirming that it is accurate and complete. Such certification includes our official company stamp and a signature and can be notarised upon request. This ensures that the translation meets the legal requirements for submission to courts, government agencies and other official bodies in Switzerland.
An apostille is required whenever a certified document is intended to be used in a country other than Switzerland that is a signatory of the Hague Convention. The apostille confirms the authenticity of the notary’s certification and legalises the document for international use. We’ll take care of that whole procedure for you.
Our quality assurance process complies with the ISO-17100 guidelines and the four-eyes (dual control) principle. To ensure optimal technical and legal accuracy, each translation is produced by qualified specialised translators and then independently reviewed and edited by translators admitted to the bar (Senior Lawyer-Linguists).
We do not use machine translation unless expressly requested to do so and only for appropriate documents. In such cases, professional post-editing is always performed in accordance with ISO-18587, to ensure high quality, correct terminology, and legal reliability.
All documents are transmitted over secure channels and stored exclusively on servers in Switzerland. Our entire team is bound by strict confidentiality obligations and by the provisions of the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP).
