Openings

Hieronymus is always looking for new talent. We embrace the following values:

Commitment to customers: our customers often turn to us for help with highly sensitive or urgent matters. They know that we can be relied on to do our utmost to accommodate them.

Confidentiality: the assignments we receive require the highest degree of reliability and discretion – we have developed rigorous work and confidentiality procedures and adhere to them scrupulously.

Humility: the work of translation provides an opportunity for (and demands!) the ongoing broadening of skills and knowledge on a day-to-day basis. Translators who enjoy the challenges of constant learning will feel particularly at home working for us.

Training

Hieronymus is currently offering an internship position at its Zurich office for a DE/EN → FR or DE/FR → EN legal translator. Are you a native speaker of (Swiss) French or English with a diploma from a recognised translation school with a special mention for "legal translation" (e.g. from the Faculté de Traduction et d'Interprétation, Geneva)? For a period of no less than 12 months you will gain intensive practical experience in the translation of legal texts. During that time you will be closely mentored by our senior lawyer-linguists. You will learn how to express yourself correctly in different areas of the law in Switzerland and become familiar with the various resources available for ensuring correct and idiomatic usage and vocabulary in all legal contexts. Please send us your application by e-mail..

Translation Project Manager

Our translation managers are the liaison between our clients and the rest of the Hieronymus team, responsible for the coordination of all translation projects – from the prompt handling of initial requests, to the preparation of quotes, project organization, selection of the right translator or translators, review by a Senior Lawyer-Linguist and timely delivery of the finished project.

Hieronymus works only with experienced legal translators selected for their proven ability to master complex and demanding legal content. Candidates are expected to have completed a law degree or a course of studies in legal translation at an accredited translation school.
